Ideological Summary;; Politically incompetent; Emperor Nicar is a selfish narcissist and cares little about the affairs of his Empire. He fears death and assassination greatly, so he secludes himself from the wider world on a regular basis. He has no allies and can find fault in virtually everything and everyone. He could care less if the Empire of Himaryn crumbled into pieces or if everyone died of plague and hunger.

At 580 chantings of age, the Emperor is by definition "Ancient." His once alabaster fur now sags and appears to be dirty regardless of how much it is scrubbed with suds, and the hair of his pelt is wiry thin much like the hair of all old creatures. Age has rendered Emperor Nicar thin, despite constant royal meals and house service, and he appears to have little muscle.
Appearances, as cliche as it is, are deceiving. At 580 chantings, Emperor Nicar is no weaker than he was at 80 chantings of Age. Thus, despite his age, the Emperor never tires or lacks energy, and is physically as fit as he ever was. He could probably run and fight and hunt if he had to (he hasn't needed to), but largely he does not want to spend any effort whatsoever. Many leave with the impression that Cervus is throne-ridden, weak, and helpless.
It is well known that the emperor has always had a host of medical problems, not limited to epilepsy, insomnia, a form of Himaryn-tuberculosis, seizures, and many others due to the strange concoctions the imperial alchemists derive to "cure his illnesses" (ironically only to make him feel worse). On a regular basis, the Emperor can be seen sweating, shivering, and constantly pale and ill-faced. Thus, these situations do not contribute positively to his public image. It has become a common expression to say they are "just waiting for the Emperor to die now", since he always seems so close to the edge of death.
Emperor Nicar Cervus Aothello, the white lion, is descended from a bloodline of largely great cats. This family bloodline has traditionally given Himaryn a great series of fine strong cats to fulfill to role of the emperor, and they all with pure white fur that glistens as cleanly as the surface of the moon. They are huge felines (Cervus's siblings and parents are all greater than 300kg in weight), and they tower over many individuals in world of Himaryn. Several of the Aothello bloodline are winged (white angelic wings), though Cervus himself is quite frankly a wingless runt weighing in around 200kg.
As characteristic of the Aothello bloodline, Cervus's eyes are colorless.

As the fifth child of the former crown Emperor Lucius Casava Aothello, Cervus was part of the imperial household, yet never quite considered in line for the throne. Like many of his younger siblings, Cervus was allowed to waste his time has he pleased in his youth, fooling around in ways his older siblings (who would presumably become the next emperor) could not. In such a way, Cervus as a child had squirmed his way out of receiving a formal education by imperial tutors, and no one noticed. The fifth child of the imperial family attracted no attention, and in the grand scope of things, his existence was inconsequential.
As a spoiled child, Cervus had no real talents growing up, but he sought the name and glamor of an impressive life. He turned to the military.
With his rank and background, young Cervus had little difficulty rising the ranks of Himaryn's army. Pampered and spoiled by sycophantic officers (all of whom wished to gain Imperial favors through Cervus), Cervus in his military life saw very little action and lived a life like a king. Nearly 120 chantings passed this way, until Cervus was "honorably discharged" largely because he was racking up too many lavish expenses the Imperial Army could not afford to pay in times of economic hardship.
The seasons after Cervus's service are largely a blur to historians. There are multiple accounts of him appearing all over the world Himaryn at random intervals, as Cervus evidently became a vagrant traveler during his mid-adulthood. He is known to have accessed the imperial treasury at regular intervals during this 200-300 chanting span of time, so it is inferred that he likely wandered with his purse loaded with Talmiens, spending money where he would. It is also rumored that Cervus fathered several illegitimate children during this period of vagrancy.
When Cervus was 550 chantings of age, in the season 5.1183, Cervus's immediate older brother (4th son) who was then Emperor, succumbed to plague and passed away. As the heir apparent, a dispatch was sent to track down Cervus, whose whereabouts were at the time unknown. With relatively little formalities, Cervus was installed as the new Emperor fresh out of the wilderness within several moons. There were no complaints, as the corrupt Himaryn political sphere was more than glad to have a disheveled king who knew nothing more of politics than ants.
