No New Posts The Floodplains

The banks of the Hashira River become a slow meander as it leaves Faralyn, eventually spilling onto a great alluvial plain on the Sehali. Here, the sun dries the water, and the river eventually evaporates. During the rainy season, the entire plain is ankle-deep in muddy water. However, come fall, the silt is parched dry without even an hint of moisture.

No New Posts Hiraja's Run

Beginning at the Summer Dens, Hiraja's Run is an unmarked hunting route used by the prides of Himaryn to sweep the surface of the Sehali for straggling prey, and drive the haerla herds across the grasslands. It takes nearly two weeks to complete Hiraja's Run, due to the size and expanse of the Sehali, so the hunting packs usually make the run on rotation. The prey is usually carried back to the Summer Dens.

As the operating base of Himaryn's Sehali hunters, the Summer Dens function both as the permanent residence for the pride children when the packs/prides move out, and as a camp at which meat drying, salting, and preservation takes place when the food will not reach its intended destination in a timely fashion. While most city-dwelling Himarynians will universally complain of the poor taste of purchased dried meat, this system is a necessity in urban centers where the surroundings are over-hunted and live prey are scarce. Properly dried meat can last for months without spoiling.

Board Description
The Sehali
The home ground of Himaryn's hunting prides, the Sehali encompasses of a vast expanse of grasslands where the haerla herds run. The seasonal rains are temperamental in this region; in fact, during the dry years, the herds leave the Sehali plains for better grazing far north. The rainless years are hard years, as it becomes difficult to hunt any big game on the Sehali grasslands.
