Appearance;;
Castel has a very standard appearance in terms of Arctic foxes, and there is not too much to remark about his physique. In his youth, many have remarked that he looks identical to his mother, as neither he nor his mother are particularly large. They may be considered on the longer side for arctic foxes, and this nature tends to orient them towards agility and maneuverability in combat. However, because of their lack of build, they do not come off as heavy-built fighters or warriors. Considering the Virga family's occupation, it can be inferred that their livelihood is based on their ability to make hit-and-run strikes.
There is not very much to describe about Castel's winter coat. It is white and fluffy, very warm, and very arctic fox-like. Castel’s summer coat is significantly more interesting, especially as it is the basis of his family coloration. His summer coat is quite lighter than most arctic foxes, and his fur retains a trim of very pure white along a significant portion of his body. Instead of the dark grey of many foxes, Castel’s pelt is distinctly more of a bluish grey in tint, almost enough so that his summer fur approaches a taste of icy blue over the splotches of darker colors. It looks vaguely like this:
Personality;;
Castel does not have the most blatant Salommite personality. Yes, he is associated to Salom, and his mother is readily descended from foreigners beyond the mountains, Castel’s primary reason he lives and fights for Salom is because the people he cares the most about live in the migratory tent-camps of the true Salommites. He’s loyal and generally quite outgoing, and as a character, he is very difficult to anger and/or get on the wrong side of. Outwardly, you could be sparring with him one day, injure him, but Castel would have no qualms about you the very next day. He’s a positive character, and has a generally optimistic perception of most things.
It might seem strange that Castel chose the violence-heavy occupation of the caravan escort guard, having such a light character. The assertion to this, is that fighting was something that Castel was raised fairly good at, and he has a paternalistic nature towards the people in his team and the customers he has to protect. In a fight, Castel demonstrates qualities of a leader—being able to recognize the overall picture of what’s going on, and can probably fill in for a leader most proficiently if necessary—but he would strongly object to any plans to promote him permanently or elevate him to the lead captain.
The reason for this is that Castel tends to shy away from responsibility (even if he unknowingly picks up responsibilities along the way). While he is obviously growing older, Castel misses the ability to be small—fluffy and childish. Around people he trusts, Castel can act very immature and whimsical, even submissive, to characters that he would otherwise outrank. He very easily acts below his rank, and can oftentimes be mistaken as an omega-type rank (Castel has no problem about this) even in the presence of his direct superiors. This immaturity in front of his superiors should be seen as a compliment however—since, Castel really only takes the luxury to act child-like when he believes his superiors can handle the obnoxiousness. Should the situation arise, Castel is immediately on his feet with fangs bared, readily dependable.
In ideology, Castel is not wholly clan-patriotic, nor is he radically dedicated against the Vikare. Having lived part of his life in the clan-neutral caravan-trails of the road has accounted for that. Because of this open personality, Castel fights more so to defend his friends and ensure the general safety of his fellow Salommites (he accepts the maxim that the best defense as a good offense). Outside of his work, should he meet a Vikare one-on-one, Castel would not really be motivated to fight or hold anything against them. Ideologically, he respects the Vikare for what they do, and in general he respects anyone that challenges him or his Clan. Clan conflict isn’t exactly pretty, and Castel recognizes that—however, it isn’t like him to take a conflict from inside a battle to outside of it.
From a military perspective, Castel has excellent character. He unquestionably obeys all orders, but retains a creative enough mind that builds favorably on the chances of success. He has strong compassion for his work and his team members, and he is not driven by hatred, radicalism, or idealism, nor is he greedy or ambitious. For this, it can be difficult to lure Castel into a tactical trap based on enflaming fury or anger. His loyalty is also unwavering, unaffected by bribes of promotion or religious ideology that can be influenced by emotional preachers.
History;;
Castel was born in the Caravan Trails of Nairsov, to an Salommite mother and an unknown father. In his years growing up, Castel spent the majority of his time in the decrepit cities of Nairsov, and grew attached to friends in the area. His mother was an active caravan guard who was constantly on the move, and because of this, Castel was allowed to run largely wild among ragged Salommite and Cruori children, exposed to a relatively diverse environment.
Eventually, Castel began working on the caravan trails as he came of age, and since then has traveling Nairsov riding the trading the winds. He has a tendency to stay in close touch with Salommites in the area, and he makes an effort to know personally and build good relationships with individuals of Salommite descent in the region. In recent years, he has also began working independent freelance jobs.
